Designed and built for low-light performance, in even the harshest weather conditions, the Steiner 10×50 Military LRF Rangefinder Binocular is a combination of rugged high-power optics and long-range measuring device intended for tactical professionals on land or sea. The addition of the rangefinder to their iconic Military series maintains the exceptional binocular design elements expected from Steiner. Its precise IR laser rangefinder can measure distances from 20 to 1600 yards. For stationary targets, use the single-measurement mode or track moving targets with the scan mode for continuously updated distances. The in-view display shows distances in yards or meters, depending on your preference.
Optically, the LRF keeps the features of the Military series including their shock-resistant floating prism system, their Sport Focusing System, and the anti-reflection multi-coatings. Its apparent angle of view approaches wide angle makes spotting and tracking game and targets fast and easy. The objectives draw in the large amounts of light required for seeing in low light, while the 10x power produces both a generous exit pupil and a field of view that is close to wide angle. This wide exit pupil ensures that the light leaving the eyepieces will completely cover most user’s pupils when they open and become dilated in low light to present the entire field of view in most light conditions. All of these features, when coupled with the traditional Porro prism light path, present the user with an immersive observational experience defined by bright and clear high-contrast views and accurate color rendition.
Complementing the optical and rangefinding performance are construction details that allow the binocular to withstand the rigors of the outdoors. These details begin with Steiner’s Sport Focusing System which allows the user to focus each eyepiece, just one time, and eliminates the need to refocus again regardless of how near or far the subject is—even if it is moving. The chassis is made of a lightweight and impact-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate material that is wrapped in an oil-, petroleum-, and chemical-resistant NBR synthetic rubber armor that offers improved grip security, especially in cold and wet weather. The optical tubes feature raised ridges to improve grip security, while the interior of the tubes is nitrogen filled to be waterproof, submersible, and resistant to internal fogging.
ptical Performance
10x magnification allows for detailed observation of distant subjects
Large 50mm objective lenses boost low-light performance
Traditional Porro prism optical path affords a more rich depth of field versus similar roof prisms, while producing a center-balanced and ergonomic form factor
Fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission for bright high-contrast images with accurate color rendition
Floating prism mounting system helps to absorb impacts to avoid damage and maintain optical path alignment
57° apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to help minimize the appearance of distracting hand shake
300-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Rangefinder
Class 1 eye-safe IR laser
Distances displayed in yards or meters
Metering range from 20 – 1600 yards
Accuracy: ±1 yards from 20 to 380 yards; ±2 yards from 380 to 763 yards; ±5% from 763 to 1600 yards
Simple pushbutton interface with right hand
Spot mode ranges to a single target; Scan mode constantly updates distant to a moving target, or multiple subjects
Powered by one CR123 battery
Use and Handling
Sports-Auto Focusing System
Fold-down rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
±5 right eye dioptric correction to compensate for individual eye prescription for clearer and crisper focusing
56-74 mm interpupillary adjustment range for use by a wide variety of people
Tripod mountable for long-duration viewing, to reduce arm fatigue, or reduce vibration
15.8mm eye relief makes long-duration observation sessions comfortable with reduced eye strain
Large 5mm exit pupil will completely cover most pupils when they open and become dilated to keep views full and clear
Sports-Auto Focusing System:
Individual eyepiece focusing
Requires only one initial individual focus adjustment per user
Eliminates the need for refocusing for targets at ranges from 20 yards to infinity
Enables the tracking of fast targets without the need to refocus
Construction Details
Lightweight and impact-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate chassis remains a comfortable temperature regardless of air temperature, and resists expansion/contraction common in metal chassis that can cause the optics to move out of alignment over time
Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and submersible, and resistant to internal fogging
Oil-, petroleum-, and chemical-resistant NBR synthetic rubber armor offers improved grip security, especially in cold and wet weather
Tethered one-piece ocular rainguard and objective lens caps come off quickly for fast reaction when needed, without the chance of losing them
Broad -4 to 140°F operating temperature; -40 to 176°F storage temperature
Weight: 45 ounces
